My Reading List

This is my reading list. All books on the list are by women of color, and most are published in the 2000s. Read more about it here.

Several notes:

  • Feel free to nominate more in the comments, but know that this is a personal reading list and is not supposed to be a comprehensive list. That would be an awesome resource, but compiling and maintaining such a list is beyond my ability.
  • As I aggregated this list from Facebook comments via a Google spreadsheet and a Facebook note, I introduced lots of typos and misspellings. Feel free to point them out in the comments and I will update the page.
  • I have no hope of reading ALL of these, but it’s a good list a good starting point.
  • The categories are to help me find them at the library or bookstore, and is not meant as any kind of judgment or necessary bracketing by me.
  • Bold titles are highest on my list. Books I’ve read (or at least tried) are linked to my reviews (if I wrote one) or underlined (if I did not).
  • I will update as I go, reviewing the ones that move me to do so.

  1. I’m going to suggest that you add Padma Venkatraman’s A Time to Dance to your middle grade (or young adult) list; Cathy Camper’s Lowriders in Space to your middle grade list; Nikki Grimes’ Bronx Masquerade to your young adult list; Octavia E. Butler’s Bloodchild to your (science) fiction list. Thanks for starting this, Kurtis–you’ve given me a good source for my own reading.
