Designed by the Sarah H. at Knopf, who also designed the cover to Mudville (which itself got great reviews), here is the gorgeous cover to Mamba Point.

  1. I’m not a huge fan of snake books either, but this looks really interesting! 😉 We never lived anywhere quite as cool as an embassy, but the NATO base in Belgium was pretty awesome. (I did get to visit a tiny part of Africa when my BFF was there in the Peace Corps; I’d like to go back some day to see more.)

  2. Oh, man, this is a fantastic cover. Humans are hard-wired to react to snakes, and the red really works well with that. Then it’s all balanced out with rollerblades and palm trees (danger! fun! um, breeziness!), and the shacks give it a distinct sense of place.

I really like the knew banner art, too. Do you think there’s space to add a goldfish?

  3. I think if you look carefully about center-right… sort of where Olympia Snowe is, politically… you’ll see a flickering tail fin of a goldfish as it dives back into the pool of water that’s concealed by the grass.
