Tribute to a Ledgand (sic)

Just about everybody is reminding me that today is the 50th anniversary of “The Day the Music Died,” as Don McLean put it. I went through a big Buddy Holly phase as a kid, mostly due to the Gary Busey movie, and greatly appreciate the contribution he made to music in his short time on earth. We miss you, Charles.

This is my favorite Buddy Holly song, with helpful annotations by whoever put it on youtube. I’ve loved this song for years, because, really — a Bo Diddley riff and a music box intro? Who would think of that but a mad genius?
